Last July, 2hollis stepped into a shadowy, cinematic mood with “Hurt,” a track that skimmed the edges of industrial techno. Today, the enigmatic rapper-singer returns with a high-energy, EDM-infused pop anthem in his new offering “Sex.”
In a recent sit-down with i-D, Hollis Frazier-Herndon confirmed that both “Hurt” and “Sex” come from his forthcoming album, which remains unnamed. “This is the first project I’ve created where I truly felt I’d tasted love, and love guided me throughout the entire record,” he remarked, and the sentiment shines through on “Sex,” which, despite its directness, could be one of the most wholesome songs about sex ever. It never feels lewd, and only at certain moments does it carry a sexy edge — mostly it radiates excitement and happiness.
“Sex” is paired with a music video directed by and featuring both 2hollis and his girlfriend Sirena Warren, whom he says helped shape the album. Watch below.
