Lucy Dacus, The Last Dinner Party, This Is Lorelei, and More Choose Their Favorite Album of 2026 So Far

June 20, 2026

Last week the Stereogum crew revealed their selections for the best records released this year up to now. A few weeks earlier, during our trip to Salt Lake City for Kilby Block Party, our team asked several of the festival’s favorite artists to share their thoughts. Kilby performers including Lucy Dacus, the Last Dinner Party, This Is Lorelei, Ben Kweller, Cardinals, and others weighed in with their own 2026 album recommendations. (Isaac Brock opted out because he exists outside of time. The universe is shaped exactly like the Earth, etc., etc.)

I was thrilled to see a number of our staff’s top picks appear in this lineup: Star Moles! Quiet Light! Kevin Morby! Nick Hakim! (No, that one’s not out yet, so for the moment you’ll have to trust me and the recommending party.) It was also enjoyable to receive some fresh suggestions. It seems that accomplished musicians have excellent taste in music?

Watch below; you’ll surely find the experience informative and entertaining.

I write about music as a cultural signal, following the artists, scenes, releases, and movements that shape how people listen today. My work focuses on discovery, context, and the stories behind the sounds that travel beyond borders.
