Channel Tres: The Black Techno Man

June 21, 2026

A fresh Channel Tres single called “Black Techno Guy” lands in a lane that feels a bit like JPEGMAFIA’s album Experimental Rap. Those labels are clunky and obvious, yet perhaps those artists want to own them anyway. On “Black Techno Guy,” Channel Tres proclaims, “I’m the Black techno guy, Black techno guy.” I suppose he is!

“Black Techno Guy” hits hard. Channel Tres is on a genuine hot streak right now; his standout single “Pop Pop” dropped just last month. Tres co-wrote and co-produced “Black Techno Guy” with his longtime collaborator Nick Sylvester, who happens to be one of my closest friends. I’m not sharing the track because I’m friends with Nick, though. I’m posting it because it’s solid. The pounding kick? The swirling strings? The laid-back, deadpan vocals? That’s the good shit. Listen below.

I write about music as a cultural signal, following the artists, scenes, releases, and movements that shape how people listen today. My work focuses on discovery, context, and the stories behind the sounds that travel beyond borders.
