Slow Pulp excel at crafting piano-led ballads. The Chicago indie rock outfit demonstrated this with the lush title track from 2023’s Yard, and they’re once again proving it with the second Melodie offering, “Not For Nothing,” which lands today.
“This track is my attempt to externalize incredibly tangled feelings — the sense of being stuck, the inability to shift how I feel, emotions coloring my everyday life, and the heartbreak of my life changing in ways that surprise both me and others,” explains Henry Stoehr. “I suspect many listeners have felt something similar, and I aimed to write a song that speaks to people where they are and gives them something tangible to hold onto amid a feeling that’s hard to articulate.”
The release follows last month’s “Better Man,” which we highlighted as one of the week’s standout songs. Below, you can watch the video for “Not For Nothing,” directed by Ben Turok.
