Love Is All by Sondre Lerche

August 9, 2026

Sondre Lerche’s forthcoming album Acrobats is approaching its release date. So far, the Norwegian singer-songwriter has offered expansive previews like “Little Kids” and “Follow The River,” and now he reveals a delicate, celestial slow-burner titled “Love Is All.”

“‘Love Is All’ felt like the emotional centerpiece of the album pretty early on,” Lerche says, expounding:

There was something about the combination of resignation and hope that resonated and carried onwards throughout the writing and recording of Acrobats. Looking back I think I was subconsciously inspired by the economical and patient poetry of some of my favorite The Blue Nile songs. Holding back and allowing space and minimalism, before the big release at the end. The ghost of Ryuichi Sakamoto was also present in the process. I did an all-nighter out on town the night before recording vocals, because I felt the performance needed to be straining and struggling more with the words and the melody.

The track also has Solveig Wang on clarinet, which meanders magically around Lerche’s soft voice. Listen below.

Acrobats is out 8/21 on PLZ/Virgin.

I write about music as a cultural signal, following the artists, scenes, releases, and movements that shape how people listen today. My work focuses on discovery, context, and the stories behind the sounds that travel beyond borders.
