Anxious Moments: Stay Put

August 11, 2026

In the prior year, Anxious issued their impressive second album, Bambi. The Connecticut-based emo outfit is gearing up for a stacked run of shows alongside Citizen, Hotline TNT, Rocket, and Cryogeyser, and to a rousing reception they’ve released a fresh track titled “Don’t Move,” drawing on the influence of Jimmy Eat World and the emerging Australian indie duo Armlock.

This track centers on a relationship that helped shape my early twenties and began to fracture — followed by attempts to rebuild it that ultimately fell short.

It’s about pulling away from reality in an effort to recapture the bond you once shared with someone, yet never really feeling truly close in the process. “Don’t Move” is about recognizing that sensation while trying to ignore it, hoping that things might shift.

This song emerged as the first piece from a set of tracks I started writing toward the end of last summer. There weren’t any expectations for a full record, nor a fixed notion of what that would entail — it simply felt like there was ample room to assemble whatever came naturally and see where it led. The bridge came first, and I was aiming to channel some of the atmospheric buildup that frequently surfaces on the B-side of Jimmy Eat World’s Clarity. I was also deeply inspired by Armlock, perhaps my favorite new band in the past several years. Their layered acoustic guitars and vocal textures provided a blueprint I tried to mirror in the bridge.

I write about music as a cultural signal, following the artists, scenes, releases, and movements that shape how people listen today. My work focuses on discovery, context, and the stories behind the sounds that travel beyond borders.
