Johnny Marr isn’t merely being pulled into spats with Morrissey; he’s also gearing up to drop his forthcoming album The Age Of Everything. He has already unveiled tracks “Spin” and “Ophelia,” and now he returns with “It’s Time,” thankfully not a cover of an Imagine Dragons song.
“‘It’s Time’ represents my way of addressing global concerns while keeping a thread of defiance rooted in optimism,” Marr notes. “I aimed for lyrics that ride the same buoyant energy as the music yet focus on resisting cynicism and corruption: ‘Everybody ain’t making it, change the weather and breaking it. Mobilize to know the truth. Open eyes to know the truth.’ I suppose it’s about those with dodgy viewpoints.”
Hmm… that’s intriguing. One might wonder if he’s pointing to a particular person with questionable views, but I won’t guess. The main thing is that the track carries a strong riff. Check out the video below.
