Wynonna Judd’s daughter is expected to give birth while still behind bars after a judge refused her request for a temporary release to undergo a Cesarean section.
Grace Pauline Kelley submitted a filing last month seeking a short-term release from jail so she could welcome a second child, Us Weekly reports.
She is presently serving a 15-month term at the Rockingham County Jail in Harrisonburg, Virginia, after pleading guilty in June to a felony count of driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Legal records obtained by Us Weekly show that a Virginia judge denied the request for temporary leave, though authorities will transport her to a hospital for a scheduled C-section. The baby is anticipated to arrive this month, though it remains unclear when or whether the birth has already occurred.
The records also note that Kelley has no relationship with her biological family.
Kelley has previously accused Judd of knowing that her ex-stepfather, DR Roach, was abusing her during childhood. Judd was married to Roach, her former bodyguard, from 2003 to 2007.
Roach was arrested in March 2007 in Texas and charged with three counts of aggravated sexual battery of a child under 13.
He was convicted of attempted aggravated sexual battery. The identity of the victim was not disclosed.
Kelley revealed in a Daily Progress interview last year that she was 10 years old at the time of the alleged abuse, which came to light when the family sought counseling.
“When he was arrested, and it came out in the news, that’s when she divorced him,” she said of her mother.
“So is my mom rich? Yeah, she’s so rich that she was able to sweep me under the rug and then cover it all up,” she claimed.
“I don’t want to talk bad about my mom, but we’ll just say she’s a good performer. She was never a mother.”
Judd has reportedly been caring for Kelley’s toddler daughter Kaliyah for the past two years.
