J. Cole canceled a concert after the death of a member of his touring crew was confirmed.
In the Thursday afternoon confirmation, a spokesperson for the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California stated that a truck driver died in a crash and that The Fall-Off World Tour show would not take place as scheduled.
“In light of the heartbreaking loss of a member of the touring crew in a trucking accident this morning, J. Cole’s performance at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento on August 27 has been canceled,” the statement read. “Our thoughts go out to the crew member’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
Ticket holders will receive refunds from the original point of purchase.
At this time, there is no information about whether the show will be rescheduled.
Earlier reporting from The Sacramento Bee indicated that the crew member had been driving a semi-truck that veered off the highway and overturned; the man died at the scene.
Local authorities are conducting an investigation into the crash.
J. Cole, whose real name is Jermaine Cole, is next slated to perform in Oakland, California on Saturday. He has not yet issued a personal comment about the tragedy.
The 41-year-old musician still has 15 additional North American dates planned for The Fall-Off World Tour before he heads to Europe, Oceania, and South Africa later in the year.
J. Cole released his seventh studio album, The Fall-Off, last February.
