KATSEYE surfaced briefly at Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields festival, even after an earlier withdrawal was announced.
The group had previously said they wouldn’t be able to headline the Dandelion Stage at Great Park in Irvine, California, on Saturday (29.08.26) after Megan Skiendiel strained her ankle during tour rehearsals, but moments before their stand-ins Devon Again arrived at the event, and Megan along with fellow members Yoonchae and Lara Raj surprised fans by joining them onstage.
The trio told the crowd they were honored to introduce Baby2Baby—a charity that provides essentials such as clothing and diapers to children living in poverty—before Devon Again’s set.
They also admitted they were “so disappointed” not to be performing themselves.
Megan commented: “We’re really disappointed that we can’t perform today, but my ankle is taking a break.”
“But our hearts aren’t resting. We’re sending all our love to Olivia and to the wonderful community she has built at Daisy Chain Fields. We’re thrilled to be here and to lend as much support as we can. We love you, Olivia. Thank you for letting us be a small part of this.”
The Pinky Up band apologised for the withdrawal that had been announced earlier in the week.
They stated in a message: “We’re incredibly sorry to share that we’re unable to perform at Daisy Chain Fields this Saturday.”
“Megan sprained her ankle yesterday during tour rehearsal and, after medical evaluation, doctors advised her to rest it and let it heal properly so we can be ready for our upcoming tour.”
Santigold’s set was rescheduled to run from 2.15pm to 2.45pm, the same window during which KATSEYE were slated to perform.
Megan had recently opened up about her mental health struggles as two members of the girl group take time to prioritise their wellbeing.
Sophia Laforteza and Manon Bannerman are taking time away from the band to focus on their wellness, and Megan said therapy has been a real help for her.
Speaking to PEOPLE, she explained: “I’ve always battled with mental health and related issues.”
“But what’s helped me the most are the people around me, especially the other girls.”
Megan also shared how supported she feels within the group.
She added: “I’m very outgoing, but I know that some people might see that as overbearing. Yet these girls never make me feel that way.”
“So the biggest thing for me has been surrounding myself with the right people,” she continued. “People who lift me up and help me bring out that side of me.”
Regarding regular therapy, she said: “It’s really comforting to talk through feelings instead of bottling them up.”
“That’s probably the most important lesson I’ve learned.”
Megan had previously stepped back in 2024 after a back injury and can relate whenever a fellow band member needs to rest.
In the Girls’ Wild Hearts documentary, released this summer, she reflected: “When I was on hiatus due to my back, it was tough watching the others work without me and not being able to be there with them.”
