Sophia Laforteza of KATSEYE will sit out the band’s Wildworld tour.
The Animal stars are scheduled to kick off the Wildworld run on September 1, performing across Europe, the United Kingdom, and North America.
Fans had been left wondering if Sophia would join them after she revealed a pause to focus on her mental health, and she clarified the situation in an Instagram Stories message.
She explained that she longs to partake in the tour and perform for the fans, but must remind herself daily that health and mental well-being must come first.
She noted that when she does appear, she wants to present the best possible version of herself, and that she has been undergoing ongoing treatment while staying as healthy, engaged, and content as possible.
She added that you cannot pour from an empty cup and that self-care is essential.
Her message arrived after KATSEYE posted their own update on Instagram about Sophia’s schedule.
They wrote that Sophia is prioritizing her wellbeing and that the group and their partners will continue to provide all necessary support and resources.
The statement, issued under HYBE and Geffen Records, confirmed that Sophia will not participate in the Wildworld Tour in Europe and the UK.
Notably, the group’s note did not mention the North American dates.
They added that they hoped EYEKONS would understand, stressing that the health and long-term wellbeing of their artists remain the top priority.
They promised to share further updates as they become available and urged fans to continue sending love, warmth, and support to Sophia and KATSEYE.
Throughout, Sophia acknowledged the unwavering support she has received from her management team and fellow band members during this period.
She added that she has felt nothing but care and encouragement from the company, her colleagues, and everyone nearby as she works toward recovery, and she looked forward to rejoining her sisters on stage soon.
