Bloc Party’s next album Anatomy Of A Brief Romance drops this Friday. The online chatter surrounding the band’s latest track “Pigwigs” wasn’t favorable, certainly not capturing Bloc Party at their peak. Still, the group keeps moving forward, and today marks the release of the final preview, “Lagoon Blue.”
“The song stems from a moment when love seemed to have returned to my life, at a time I doubted it was possible,” explains frontman Kele Okereke. “So it felt like a truly joyous piece for me. But I found I couldn’t perform it every night, given what I know now. The only way to make it work was to tell the entire story of our relationship, with ‘Lagoon Blue’ being just a single beat of it, not the whole narrative.”
