LISA’s forthcoming solo EP PRESS PLAY unfolds like a cinematic experience, with every track taking on a distinct personality.
The BLACKPINK member, born Lalisa Manobal, traces her journey from her Thai roots to the peak she occupies today.
In an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she explained: “This EP chronicles my path from my origins to where I am today.”
“Thai influences permeate the tracks as well; each song carries its own identity and mood, and when blended, they resemble a film. So you simply press play.”
Thus far, listeners have been introduced to the opening cut SaWaDiKa, meaning Hello in her mother tongue.
PRESS PLAY is scheduled for release on October 23.
Besides building a thriving music career, she has also ventured into acting, making her screen debut in the third season of The White Lotus; however, Lisa stresses that she won’t fully leave BLACKPINK behind.
In an interview with Variety, she said: “If I reach fifty, I still want to perform with BLACKPINK. We wrapped our tour earlier this year, and we frequently discuss the possibility of a brief hiatus—similar to the one I took nearly two years ago—but we’ll always stay together.”
Alongside the new EP, LISA is issuing a documentary titled Always Lalisa.
The film includes conversations with LISA’s inner circle and also reveals a more vulnerable facet of the singer.
When asked why she chose to participate at this moment, she replied: “I think the moment has arrived. I’m more self-assured now, and I want to share my journey with fans who chase big dreams like mine.”
“I hope it can inspire them as well.”
Always Lalisa is set to hit cinemas on October 12.
