A couple of years have elapsed since Blue Bendy released their debut album, So Medieval. The UK six-piece is now unveiling its sophomore effort, One Day This Will All Be Lore, and its expansive lead single, “Dragonslayer,” is available today.
“I aimed to overturn parts of Arthurian chivalry within a contemporary setting,” says frontman Arthur Nolan. “That era has long been mythologized as a perfect idyll. I wanted to examine nationalist mythmaking wrapped in a bittersweet, romantically pop song, along with the dreams musicians tell themselves about fame and living inside their own heads.”
Regarding the visual piece, keyboardist Olivia Morgan notes, “I grabbed a camera earlier this year and decided to tackle every question I’ve ever had, and analyze why people do what they do in a four-and-a-half-minute sequence of clips. I’d never made a music video before or done much with film, but I want to learn, so this is experiment one.”
