Jane Remover shows no signs of weariness. That seems to be the simplest explanation. The boundary-pushing pop auteur maintains an exhausting schedule—on tour, at festivals, and releasing fresh music under a constellation of alter-egos. Earlier this year, Jane Remover shared SoundCloud tracks like “Headbanger” and “Conversion 2,” and she also dropped material under the aliases Leroy and Venturing. Today, we finally get another solid Jane Remover single after a pause.
Her latest track “Beauty Sleep” blasts across a wide sonic spectrum. Some sections glide with sweet melody and a hint of vulnerability, even as digital effects bend the track in multiple directions. Other sections bring to mind Squarepusher remixing Brokencyde—and I mean that as a compliment. It’s a swirling, overwhelming piece of music. The video directed by Brendon Burton opens with Remover as a glamorous alien inside a laboratory tube, then she breaks free and rides a motorcycle out to the beach. See it below.
