Spencer Radcliffe returns under his Blithe Field alias with a fresh release that serves as the heir to 2023’s Grits Kissed. The new record, titled Soft Core Hard Wear, is slated to arrive next month through Orindal Records. The opening preview is the track “Milked Rainbow,” a title that in itself grabs attention, while the track that bears it remains elusive and peculiar, its texture akin to a long-mforgotten VHS cassette coming to life.
According to a press release, the 18-track collection was assembled through a hands-on workflow that relies on synthesizers, a sampler, and cassette tape.

Recorded in the winter of 2025 on a Tascam 244 in Nelsonville, Ohio, the album also comes with a full-length film assembled from warped and stitched-together found VHS tapes, color experiments, and other video explorations.
