Having caught our attention last year with a pair of tracks that blurred boundaries, the London-based quartet RIP Magic has spent 2026 intensifying the momentum they already built. They even recruited James Murphy to produce their January single “5words,” a move that felt like a major badge of honor, followed by two more scorchers, “Screwdark” and “Light Over There.” Today, the inevitable album news has arrived, and along with it, a fresh RIP Magic cut worth a listen.
Their debut LP 1,2,3 is due to arrive very soon. It’s slated for release on 10/30 via section1, the Partisan-affiliated imprint. In tandem with the album announcement comes “Stadium Drive,” a hazy, hip-hop–flavored track that lines up a blend of spoken-word cadences and sung-like phrasing. The band have shared stages with Chanel Beads, Panda Bear, and Fakemink, points of reference that feel apt here — and it’s also worth noting that Marco Pini from RIP Magic serves as a touring member of Sorry.
