Bebe Rexha revealed just how astonished she was to receive behind-the-scenes help from Taylor Swift.
The Meant to Be singer shared a tale about Taylor’s unexpected act of generosity.
On the red carpet of the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards in LA, the 37-year-old explained to E! News that, as a plus-sized performer, she had difficulty locating a gown for the 2019 Grammys.
“I couldn’t find a dress,” the singer stated, noting that designers showed little interest in dressing her for the event.
Nevertheless, she went on to say that Taylor somehow learned of her struggle and reached out to offer assistance.
“She got in touch because we’re the same age,” Bebe explained, “and I thought that was really, really, really kind of her.”
The I’m a Mess vocalist added that it was especially surprising to hear from Taylor, given how successful the Grammy winner was.
“Nobody really reached out,” Bebe recalled. “Like, some people did, but for her, at such a high level, to make me feel as though I belonged was really, really nice.”
At the same event, Bebe also reflected on some of her dearest memories of the late Dolly Parton, who passed away on 25 August at the age of 80 after a brief battle with cancer.
“She is the ultimate powerhouse,” the singer, who collaborated with Dolly on their 2023 track Seasons, said. “Her corset was tighter than mine. Her heels were insane, and when I compared my outfit, I thought, ‘I must step my game up.’ She had her hair styled so high.”
Bebe concluded that meeting Dolly was every bit as wonderful as she had hoped.
“She was incredibly energetic, kind, and relaxed,” she recalled. “I loved it because sometimes when you meet your idols, they can let you down. I’ve had experiences like that, but with her, she was amazing.”
