During 2024, Megan Thee Stallion issued her third full-length project, Megan, and soon after delivered Megan: Act II. The artist has been dropping hints about Act III, and recently she shared a sample with “Tina Tuesday Freestyle.”
The launch coincided with a fresh Marie Claire profile in which she discusses the record. “I was quite down, realizing I wouldn’t be releasing a summer-project,” she explained. “I wanted to slow down, lay down tracks, write earnestly, and sort it all out.”
“I craft tunes that mirror my current mood,” she added. “Yet I might be having an awful, awful day, and I’d sit down to write something like ‘Freak Nasty’ simply because inspiration strikes to compose something bold. With this forthcoming album, I think I traversed every emotion.”
She also opened up about the health struggles that haunted her while performing in the Broadway show Moulin Rouge!, which resulted in hospitalization mid-performance and ultimately her departure from the production. “I believed I was experiencing a stroke,” she recalled. “I wasn’t getting oxygen to my brain, so my hands and face froze. I was trying to tell people I didn’t feel alright, but they assumed I was just dehydrated.”
Yet Megan delivers a sharper performance on “Tina Tuesday Freestyle,” reviving the Tina Snow persona from her 2018 EP. A standout line reads: “Look too good for AI to replicate, huh / Why is it that every foe I face carries a hint of charm?” Listen below.
