Ogbert the Nerd’s Stapler: A Quick Look

October 2, 2026

Ogbert The Nerd—buzzed about as “the only emo band from New Jersey”—has resurfaced with new material. The group just released a fresh single, “Stapler,” their first new track since the surprise 2024 album What You Want. The cut lands as a confident continuation of their distinctive voice and energy, signaling that the band is far from slowing down.

Expect a flood of melodramatic screams, tangled guitar textures, and a tense breakdown where the percussion keeps a slow burn. “The light we chased is gone/ There’s no way out of here,” reads one line, painting the band as if they’re spinning inside a dense, inescapable void. “I’m the dust cloud growing up inside of the air vents” is another standout couplet, underscoring the claustrophobic mood. The track closes with a brief, precise “OOH,” a tiny finish that lands with odd resonance and curiosity. There’s something peculiar—and strangely irresistible—about the way it all lands.
