Fog Lake Unveils Hollowbody, Listen to Bogus

October 4, 2026

Fog Lake—the project of Montreal-born, Newfoundland-raised musician Aaron Powell—is resurfacing with new material. Today he revealed his seventh full-length effort, Hollowbody, the follow-up to 2023’s Midnight Society, and the new single “Bogus.” The album is slated for release next month.

Hollowbody coalesced in a three-week span and was shepherded by longtime collaborator Warren Hildebrand of Foxes In Fiction, who handled production, mixing, and mastering alongside Powell. The record drew inspiration from a decades-old piece of gear Powell came across. “I picked up an 80s Tascam amp simulator on eBay which includes a quick analog recording button — it really colored the tone and atmosphere of the songs I was writing,” he explained.

“Bogus” thrives on the interplay between Powell’s delicate vocal delivery, brisk acoustic strums, and a rough-edged guitar solo that comes to life toward the end. The lyrics probe a fractured relationship, miscommunications, and discarded cigarettes. Powell described the track as exploring bad luck, noting that while he’s had plenty of luck in other areas of life, romance hasn’t always gone in his favor.
