Shakira Tops Amazon Music Milestone as Dua Lipa Makes a Surprise Madrid Appearance

October 5, 2026

Shakira has set a new streaming milestone as her October 3 Madrid show became Amazon Music’s most-watched livestream by a female artist.

The performance was broadcast live from Shakira Stadium, the temporary arena erected inside the Iberdrola Music complex to host the 12-date Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour residency.

The Madrid stop featured a surprise guest appearance by Dua Lipa, who joined Shakira onstage for an acoustic rendition of Antología, a track from the Hips Don’t Lie hitmaker’s 1997 album Pies Descalzos. Introducing her guest, Shakira told the crowd: “To me, it is an honor and a privilege to perform this song, which holds great meaning for me, alongside a woman who is widely admired and loved around the world.”

After the show, the Training Season singer posted in Spanish: “I felt as if you, me, and the audience formed one, and I’m very grateful to leave with such a beautiful memory!!!”

The residency began on September 18 and is scheduled to run through October 11.

Meanwhile, Shakira has admitted that she has considered stepping away from the music business.

One of the world’s best-selling artists, she says she nearly quit the profession “a few years ago.” In a Vogue interview, she recalled: “A few years ago, I was ready to just buy a farm, raise animals, and retire from music.”

But looking back, she wonders how that could have happened, noting that there is still much she wanted to say and do. “Sometimes we just take what we do for granted, or forget about who we are.”

Shakira continues to relish live performances for her fans, despite decades in the industry. The 49-year-old Colombian superstar—who shares two sons with her ex-partner Gerard Piqué—says: “I think that when I perform, I don’t just do it in front of an audience. I do it surrounded by my family.” She adds that fans, those who have enjoyed her music for years and light up the crowd, really understand her and know her flaws. They don’t condemn her defects.
