Megan Thee Stallion has discussed the hurdles she encounters when doing voice work versus laying down music tracks.
The rapper behind Savage has joined forces with The Boondocks creator Carl Jones to develop an original anime series titled Hotties.
She revealed the project on Instagram in February, noting that it was coming together beautifully and that Jones is a genius, expressing her excitement for the hotties to meet the HOTTIES.
In a conversation with InStyle about how the process is evolving, she explained that voice acting for a character feels markedly different from her music career.
“Going into the studio and performing as Megan Thee Stallion is straightforward—I can record a line and hear exactly how the voice will sit over the beat. That part is easy. But voicing a character is something entirely other,” the 31-year-old noted.
“When I first watched it back, I thought it sounded too flat. I realized I needed to be more animated and adjust my inflection here and there.”
She added that she has been having a lot of fun with the voice acting experience.
The three-time Grammy winner is also expanding into more traditional acting, with roles in The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins opposite Daniel Radcliffe, the 2026 comedy Roommates, and a stint in Moulin Rouge! on Broadway.
Hotties is set to stream exclusively on Prime Video, though an official release date has not yet been announced.
