Back in 2014, Björn Yttling helped conceive and produce Chrissie Hynde’s debut solo album Stockholm. The duo has since reunited to deliver a fresh interpretation of the Doors’ iconic 1967 track, “People Are Strange.”
On Friday, October 9, Hynde and Yttling Jazz unveiled the cover on the Swedish television program På Spåret, where Yttling Jazz is serving as the house band for a several-week stint, and a studio version subsequently appeared on streaming services. The release had been anticipated after Hynde’s recent blog entry: “Not much musically to report on my end, although I did go to Gothenburg a couple weeks ago to sing with The Bjorn Yttling Jazz combo. You’ll remember I did that Stockholm album with Bjorn about 10 years ago. It’s always good to hang out with those Swedes. And Bjorn’s Jazz album, Yttling Jazz, is great. Glad to sing with them any time.”
