Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan have teamed up for a fresh remix of the song “Expectations.”
On Monday (12.10.26), Olivia shared a studio clip showing the new version in progress, with the mix displayed on a screen from her latest album You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love.
A voice resembling her close friend Chappell is heard in the Instagram Stories clip saying: “Ooh, Olivia does remixes now.”
The Sun’s Bizarre column suggests the remix could be released on Friday (16.10.26).
The Good 4 U pop-maker and the Pink Pony Club artist are believed to have decided to collaborate after spending time together at Olivia’s Daisy Chain Fields festival earlier this summer.
An insider told the publication that “Olivia and Chappell have been friends for a long time through producer and songwriter Dan Nigro, who has worked closely with them both.”
“It’s been more than a year since Chappell last released music because she stepped away from the spotlight to quietly work on new material.”
“But they reconnected in August at Daisy Chain Fields, where they both performed, and they chose to work together. Chappell loves the message of the song, and the version they created together is magic.”
It was at Daisy Chain Fields that Chappell realized how much she missed performing live.
The singer hadn’t performed since May, and her comeback at the all-women festival clearly reignited something. After the show, she posted on Instagram to thank Olivia for the invitation and to praise her for using her platform for good.
In her post following the event, she thanked Daisy Chain Fields and lauded Olivia Rodrigo as an inspiration in many ways.
She added that we need artists who use their reach for positive impact and bring light to the world.
She wrapped up by thanking Olivia for being herself and supporting artists like her, noting that the support has changed her life in numerous ways, and that performing again felt amazing after realizing how much she had missed it, truly living out her fifth element fantasy.
