FFO: Chillin’ — a band whose name alone invites a double take — hails from Concord, New Hampshire, and delivers a notably enjoyable take on alt-rock flavored pop-punk, punctuated by occasional breakdowns. I caught them opening for Joyce Manor and Glitterer last month and had a blast. The group recently signed with DAZE, a label that leans toward heavy hardcore, and they’ve released the recent tracks “All I Know” and “Forward Motion,” the latter now marketed as “Forward Perpetual Motion.” Their full-length debut is due to drop in less than a month.
FFO: Chillin’ already boast a couple of EPs, and their forthcoming self-produced album High Horse stacks 16 tracks. Don’t read that as a warning, though—the songs tend to be incredibly brief. The new single “Fresh Start” clocks in at 85 seconds and delivers a chaotic, headrush energy that I find surprisingly appealing. The emo-rap vocal cadences land with more effect than I’d expect if I only heard the phrase “emo-rap vocal cadences” before pressing play. Check it out below.
