Carly Rae Jepsen reveals how she saved her husband’s contact number after their first songwriting session

Carly Rae Jepsen has revealed the quirky way she stored Cole M.G.N.’s contact in her phone after their first encounter in a songwriting session.

The Call Me Maybe singer connected with the producer and songwriter during a session for her forthcoming album Day and Night, and the pair later tied the knot in October 2025, welcoming their first child earlier this year.

In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Carly explained how she saved Cole’s number after they co-wrote the track No Labels, I Love You during their initial writing session.

“I wrote that song with my husband, who I didn’t know would become my husband when we first met. But that session was our first collaboration, and it took a long time to figure out how the song would land,” she began.

“It’s funny because on the drive home from that session I started entering his name in my phone, as you do after a session, to ask myself, ‘Who did I work with today?’ And his name is Cole, and since I was driving I didn’t want to text for long, and the song’s called No Labels, I Love You, so I saved ‘Cole I Love You’ in my phone. I still have him saved that way today. All because of that song.”

No Labels, I Love You was among the first songs Carly and Cole penned for her new double album Day and Night. Cole, whose full name is Cole Marsden Greif-Neill, later co-wrote and co-produced several other tracks on the record, which was released last month.

The I Really Like You star described the album as a “beautiful timestamp of my life” and compared it to a snapshot, but with music instead of photographs.

“I didn’t know all the things that were going to unfold in my personal life were on the way, but those things were brewing and bubbling for sure,” she added. “I think you can feel the excitement and the anticipation in the album.”

Carly announced the birth of their son Ilya in March.
