Liam Gallagher Teases Oasis Comeback as New Album Looms

October 22, 2026

Liam Gallagher has fans buzzing after hints suggesting Oasis are working on a fresh album.

The Live Forever singer is known for teasing followers on social media about the band’s activities.

Earlier this week, a supporter on X posted: “Oasis boast seven superb albums and those tracks linked with LIVE FOREVER.”

Liam replied with: “Eight, counting the new one—happy birthday, I suppose. (sic)”

This comes after the frontman of the legendary Britpop outfit floated the idea that more shows could follow the Oasis Live ’27 tour—provided the group comes up with new music.

He told a fan on X: “If the tour goes well, the next step is likely a discussion about fresh material. I can’t see us touring again unless we have new music.”

Fans have spent years clamouring for new material.

Liam appears to have softened on recording new songs with his brother Noel Gallagher, after previously admitting that living up to their iconic ’90s catalogue would be “too much.”

Replying to a supporter on X who pleaded for a new record, Liam fired back with his characteristic bluntness: “No—I’m not ready for the backlash if it doesn’t move 100 million copies in the first hour, cure bad breath and constipation for the nation, or turn back time for Cher and some other stuff; let’s just do a few gigs and be happy, thank you (sic).”

Their songs weren’t merely chart-toppers; they became cultural touchstones. Wonderwall, Don’t Look Back In Anger, Champagne Supernova — these tracks didn’t just define Britpop, they defined a generation. And Liam recognises it. When another fan suggested Oasis could tour indefinitely without new material, he agreed, saying expectations for fresh work would be impossible to meet. He even quipped that the band would “split up again” if they tried.

It’s easy to understand why. Oasis’ last studio album, Dig Out Your Soul, arrived in 2008. A year later, the group fractured after a backstage altercation between Liam and Noel. The Gallagher brothers only reconciled last year, reuniting for the Oasis Live ’25 tour—a moment fans had hoped for more than a decade.

Oasis are gearing up for a record-breaking six nights at Knebworth next year, after adding four extra shows to the 2027 run in response to overwhelming demand.

The Live Forever hitmakers will stage two additional performances at Knebworth House on September 25 and 26, bringing the total to six, with another date scheduled at Rome’s Olympic Stadium on July 26, and a show at Munich’s Allianz Arena on July 6.

Oasis’ six-night return to Knebworth — the site of their two historic 1996 concerts — is set to establish a new record for the most dates performed at the historic British estate, surpassing Robbie Williams’ three shows there in August 2003.
