Evan Stein previously performed with Anklebiter and Broken Vow, two notably intense young straight-edge hardcore outfits from the Northeast. Today, he fronts If It Rains, a project that sits comfortably within that same lineage. If It Rains delivers a style built on ferocious, driving chugs that evoke Turning Point and Have Heart at their most theatrical moments. And as a neat connection, they’re lined up to play at Have Heart’s upcoming reunion dates, and their new EP features Have Heart frontman Pat Flynn.
After dropping a highly promising demo in 2024 and following it with a two-track single last year, If It Rains now deliver their heavy, potent, and surprisingly expansive EP All We’ve Got. It packs the bold, heartfelt moshed-up energy you want from this kind of music, while also spanning more exploratory ground on tracks such as the six-minute centerpiece “In Another Life.” The record closes with “But This Life Is All We’ve Got,” a track featuring Pat Flynn of Have Heart/Fiddlehead and Sarah Tolley of Sign Language. Really cool record. Give it a listen below.
The All We’ve Got EP is available now through Delayed Gratification.
