Junior Boys Reveal The Gore, Listen to Underneath the Moon

November 2, 2026

The Junior Boys are back on the scene. The Canadian electronic pop duo of Jeremy Greenspan and Matt Didemus is poised to release in February The Gore, a successor and companion to 2022’s Waiting Game that Greenspan describes as “a polarized articulation of the same thing.” Born from a period marked by grief and loss after the deaths of Greenspan’s father and a longtime friend, and infused with a nostalgia for horror, science fiction, and experimental cinema, The Gore was conceived as a deliberately louder, messier record.

“What if you crafted an album like Fresh by Sly and the Family Stone, or Here, My Dear by Marvin Gaye — imperfect, chaotic records — but with the sonic language of Pan Sonic,” Greenspan remarks in a statement. “Naturally, translating that concept into something that actually sounds like that isn’t my forte. And to be honest, that has been a real advantage — if I could faithfully lift every influence I wanted to lift, I’d simply sound like a clone.”

Alongside the reveal, the duo unveil the enigmatically bubbling and echoing lead single “Underneath The Moon.” According to Greenspan, “This track is deeply inspired by the 2022 horror film Skinamarink. I used vintage tape-loop techniques on an old Tascam tape machine to reproduce many of the film’s effects, functioning as a tribute to the ephemeral nature of analog recording technology.” Hear it below.
