The Doors’ guitarist Robby Krieger is grieving the loss of his wife, Lynn Krieger.

On Tuesday, the musician shared via The Doors’ official Instagram account that Lynn had died “peacefully” at the age of 79, last week. A cause of death was not disclosed.

“I am so sorry I can’t share this news in person. After more than fifty years of love and marriage, my wife Lynn Ann Veres passed away peacefully last night, October 29th,” he wrote, accompanied by a black-and-white photo of Lynn posing beside a car.

Robby and Lynn’s son, Waylon Krieger, was with his mother “until the end”.

“Will miss her so much,” the 80-year-old continued.

And to conclude, Robby thanked fans for their “thoughts and prayers” at this time.

The rocker wrote the 1971 song, Love Her Madly, about Lynn.

The pair wed in 1972 and welcomed Waylon the following year.

While Robby rarely spoke about his personal life, he dedicated his 2021 memoir, Set the Night on Fire: Living, Dying and Playing Guitar with the Doors, to his wife.

“She’s the only person I’ve ever met who lets me be me. And that’s why I’ll always love her,” he wrote at the time.

Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore are the surviving members of The Doors. Frontman Jim Morrison died at the age of 27 in 1971 and keyboardist Ray Manzarek passed away at 74 in 2013.
