Jess Kerber’s The World Is Dark, But I Want It To Be Funny lands tomorrow. Up to now, the Nashville-based singer-songwriter has shared the evocative singles “Changing” and “Louisiana Song.” She now returns with the title track, featuring Emily Hines.
“This song grew from the realization that every time I try to inject humor or treat the casual aspects of daily life as a respite in whatever tough moment I am in, it helps me accept the bigger picture,” Kerber explains. “That isn’t to say that difficult moments must be intellectualized or unvalidated, but living in a moment where so many layers of humanity are continually being challenged, we have to look inward and be more creative in the ways we lift ourselves back up. Just as darkness is inevitable, so too is all of the lightness.”
