Power by Spencer Peppet

November 6, 2026

In the prior year, the Ophelias issued their acclaimed third studio LP, Spring Grove. Today, spearheading the project, Spencer Peppet unveils “Power,” her first solitary release in nearly a decade.

The track was produced by Calvin Lauber and features a sample from Jevin Almazan. Regarding the song, Peppet notes, “Why are beverages priced at eighteen dollars these days? What’s that about? A drink should be around ten dollars. This track examines watching gorgeous people at a lavish event and feeling out of place, only to grow angry about something entirely different.”

“Power” arrives enveloped in shoegaze fuzz and stuffed with witty, relatable lines: “I’m funny when I’m by myself/ And grating when I open my mouth,” Peppet laments. It is accompanied by a music video created by Peppet in collaboration with Jo Schaffer, her bandmate in the Ophelias. Watch below.

I write about music as a cultural signal, following the artists, scenes, releases, and movements that shape how people listen today. My work focuses on discovery, context, and the stories behind the sounds that travel beyond borders.
