Fiona Apple & The Bolt Cutters Cover Mother Earth’s ‘Revolution’ for Doctors Without Borders Benefit Compilation

November 7, 2026

Fiona Apple returns to the public eye. The private singer has been more active than usual this year, releasing a track for the TV series Lucky and helping to write one of the songs on Cara Delevingne’s debut album. In July, she uploaded a video to update her fans about her music, admitting she was finding it difficult to write about the world’s “endless barrage of horrors.” Now, following the Democrats’ achievement of majorities in both chambers of Congress, she unveils a new song with the Bolt Cutters, otherwise known as David Garza, Sebastian Steinberg, and Amy Aileen Wood.

The new track is a rendition of Mother Earth’s 1968 protest anthem “Revolution,” and it forms part of a Dougie Bowne-produced benefit compilation called Right Now, with all proceeds designated for Doctors Without Borders. The news was revealed on Apple’s closest friend Zelda Hallman’s Instagram, and for the moment the song is exclusive there. REVOLUTION.

America is undergoing change. You can feel it. It has a pulse, and it’s growing.

This week’s election gave us something we’ve needed: hope for a more progressive, compassionate, inclusive, and just future. Tuesday was a victory, but only a beginning.

To celebrate and mark this moment, The Bolt Cutters — Davíd Garza, Sebastian Steinberg, Fiona Apple, and Amy Aileen Wood — recorded their interpretation of Mother Earth’s “Revolution.” They laid down their parts remotely, from Los Angeles to Houston to the East Coast; Amy deftly brought everything together to capture this moment’s energy.

Because something is happening.

Across the globe, people are marching for justice, freedom, and peace. Dockworkers are refusing to participate in weapons shipments. People are confronting ICE, demanding freedom for Palestine, and calling for an end to the bombing of Gaza. From Ukraine to Sudan, the Congo, Yemen, and Myanmar, civilians face war, hunger, and displacement.

People are advocating for reproductive rights, bodily autonomy, health care, and equal protection — regardless of race, religion, gender, or immigration status. For due process instead of detention and deportation without a fair hearing. For treaties with Indigenous peoples and Tribal Nations to be honored, and for justice for Native, Black, and LGBTQ+ communities. Especially for the deaths and disappearances of young people that remain unsolved and poorly explained.

Our tax dollars should be spent feeding children, not bombing them while the wealthiest pay nothing and take everything. Question who profits from war and the scramble for resources, from Greenland to the Congo, given our own history of taking Indigenous lands, water, and mineral rights.

These aren’t separate struggles. They’re demands for dignity, freedom, justice, and love. Above all, we want peace. And we want it NOW!

“Revolution,” produced by The Bolt Cutters, will appear on Right Now, a protest-song album produced by the wonderful Dougie Bowne. All profits will benefit Doctors Without Borders.

Enjoy the music, share the hope, and let’s keep the revolution going and growing.
