Aaron Rowe has publicly defended Ed Sheeran following the headliner’s decision to remove Macklemore from the tour over pro-Palestine remarks.
That Friday, after he himself also left the tour, Rowe characterized Sheeran’s concession to Gillette Stadium owner Robert Kraft’s demand to drop Macklemore as a "human f**king error."
"I think you are all focusing on the wrong person here. All I keep hearing is Ed Sheeran this, Ed Sheeran that, but you really should be focusing on the likes of Robert Kraft," he began in the video on Instagram.
"You really should be focusing on the zionist lobbies that are trying to silence the voices of people who are shouting about genocide, the genocide that is happening in Palestine right now, by Israel.
"Look, I know Ed’s statement could have been a lot better," he continued. "And I do think that Macklemore shouldn’t have been pulled off the tour. I fully believe it was panic stations over there, and they rushed to a decision because they didn’t know what to do."
Rowe continued, "That’s a mistake from a person. And I haven’t had a chance to talk to Ed too much, but I fully believe he knows that was a mistake."
On Monday, Sheeran dropped Macklemore from his tour amid an outcry over his onstage speech.
Following the move, Rowe and fellow openers Finneas and Lukas Graham dropped out of the tour, along with Sheeran’s backing band, Beoga.
After his exit from the tour, Rowe hit the biggest US streaming day of his career on Thursday last week, pulling in nearly 80,000 official on-demand US streams across his catalogue.
