Andrew W.K. has been notably quiet on the public scene lately. In 2021, just before issuing his album God Is Partying, the flamboyant party-forward artist announced his engagement to actress Kat Dennings, marriage following in 2023. The past five years have carried little musical activity from him, but today that hush is broken by the surprise arrival of a new record.
With the release of Temptation To Exist, W.K. ventures back into the jazz arena. He previously touched the genre once before on his 2009 solo piano outing 55 Cadillac, but this time he unveils a lush, cinematic suite performed by a full band. The album began to surface late Thursday on AWKSHARE, a fan-run platform. It’s now accessible in full on YouTube Music, though it hasn’t yet appeared on most other streaming services. The @AndrewWK Instagram account also seems to be run by fans for the moment, and it’s there that Temptation To Exist was announced, mirroring what Dennings shared in her Instagram stories.
