Sean Sprecher releases a lot of music under the moniker Bad History Month, whether they’re original tunes or covers. At present, he’s issuing a fundraising EP following a gunshot wound to his calf.
“First off, I’m okay and I expect to recover quickly,” the Philadelphia-based musician wrote on Bandcamp, adding:
Secondly, due to a strange bend in time and space, I ended up facing a bullet that cut through my fatted calf. I’ll be fine and I feel lucky. An almost too-easy version of getting shot.
Anyway, I’m trying to establish proof of my income as a musician so I might qualify for some victim-relief workers’ comp. If you want to drop five bucks this way to help me look a bit more bruised, that would be fantastic. More details later, I wanted to get this up for Bandcamp Friday’s tax holiday.
The music is this folk-influenced interpretation of the last two tracks on Dead And Loving It, a set I’ve performed for years but never laid down in a recording. The two platinum editions are with Ben’s help, if you prefer your songs a touch more polished. I’ll develop this further once I’m back on my feet.
The four pieces feel intimate and meaningful. Consider purchasing them here, and listen below.
