Austin-based indie rock outfit Being Dead seems ready to build on the breakout success of their 2024 album EELS. The band announced today that they’ve signed with Polyvinyl Records, and while there isn’t word yet on a full-length release, they’re issuing their first two tracks for the label.
“Man Or Myth” and “Aquarium” illustrate Being Dead’s modern reinterpretation of Summer Of Love psychedelia. The former draws inspiration from freestyle canoeing legend Marc Ornstein, who agreed to appear in the video despite being surprised to be the subject of a song. The latter, meanwhile, probes the taboo nature of falling in love at work, a scenario that becomes especially provocative if the workplace is an aquarium and the coworker is a dolphin.
Both songs arrive with music videos directed by Being Dead’s own Falcon Bitch, and you can watch them below.
