Last year, bloodsports released their strikingly eerie debut album Anything Can Be A Hammer, which earned them a spot on our list of the best new acts of 2025. We hadn’t heard from the New York outfit since — until now. Today, right in time for Halloween, they return with a formidable new track titled “Ten Thousand Feet.”
“Ten Thousand Feet” came about as a highly collaborative effort; we each contributed parts at different moments or simply jammed sections and assembled them as a group, so it feels especially rewarding to finally release it to the world after playing it live for the better part of the last year,” the band explains. “Lyrically, the song attempts to convey a certain malaise or boredom I was feeling at the time, along with that restless, unknowing, bird’s-eye-view anger that accompanies it, referencing a story about a baseball player named Joe Sprinz, which we encourage everyone to read if they get the chance.”
bloodsports, much like other Stereogum faves Truth Club, have a knack for capturing the creeping sense of dread and expanding it into a long, haunted-house-like composition. You never know what’s around the corner, but you’re just waiting for something or someone to surprise you. The suspense, though, is the scariest part. Enter at your own risk below.
