The concluding single from Bonnie Tyler is slated for release on November 13.
The Total Eclipse of the Heart hitmaker – whose real name was Gaynor Hopkins – died on July 8, but next week will see the unveiling of Love, Light and Peace, her final studio recording, with her widower, Robert Sullivan, confident she would have wanted her fans to hear the festive track.
Robert stated in a release: “It has been a year filled with heartbreak, and I miss her every day.”
“Gaynor never stopped creating. She adored singing, she cherished her fans, and she poured her entire heart into these songs.”
“The only time she ever really stopped was during the COVID period, and even then she carried on with Zoom interviews all the time. Between live performances she would drop by David Mackay’s studio to work on all these new songs.”
“I know she would want people to hear them, and I am incredibly proud of everything she left behind.”
Love, Light and Peace was written by Chrissie Hammond and Terry Britten, the latter of whom also produced the track with David Mackay.
Bonnie passed away at the age of 75, weeks after she was placed into an induced coma following emergency intestinal surgery in Portugal.
A message posted on Bonnie’s website at the time read: “Bonnie’s family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for.”
“We will issue a further statement shortly but for now ask for privacy to deal with this tragedy.”
A number of stars paid tribute after her death, including Sir Cliff Richard, who remembered her as a “wonderful friend.”
Cliff, 85, shared a photo of himself and Bonnie on Facebook and wrote: “Another wonderful friend gone too soon. Bonnie’s infectious zest for life entertained so many around the world, and to be a good friend to all, including me.”
“It is shocking news to wake up to you this morning and I send my love to her family at this very sad time. RIP Bonnie…. Cliff.”
Fellow musician Bryan Adams paid tribute to Bonnie and her musical talent, notably her rendition of Straight From The Heart, a track he also recorded.
He posted on X: “Dear Bonnie Tyler passed today, she had such a great voice and I’ll always be grateful for her beautiful version of Straight From The Heart. Thanks Bonnie. RIP.”
Singer Rick Parfitt Jr will never forget the memories he shared with the Holding Out for a Hero hitmaker.
He wrote on Instagram: “So incredibly sad, but I will remember our great chats, your wicked sense of humour, your kindness, incredible talent and all the fun gigs we did together! Rest in peace, bright eyes.”
Mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins has been left “heartbroken” by the news.
She wrote on Instagram: “Heartbroken to hear of the passing of the incredible Bonnie Tyler.”
A true Welsh legend whose unmistakable voice inspired generations and placed Wales on the world stage with such power, passion and authenticity.
“Growing up in the same part of the world as Bonnie makes this loss feel especially close to home. She showed so many of us what was possible, so today we’re all holding out for a hero… and saying goodbye to one of our very own.”
“Rest peacefully, Bonnie. Your music, your spirit and your legacy will live on forever.”
