Dahi – A Guide to Prayer (Featuring Kendrick Lamar & Amber Mark)

August 29, 2026

Whenever Kendrick Lamar lends his voice to another artist’s track, it tends to become news. For example, earlier in the year he featured on Baby Keem’s Ca$ino album, a project led by his protégé. Now, he contributes to a fresh release from Dahi, the seasoned Inglewood-born rap producer.

Dahi’s upcoming album Black Boy (Alternative) would be notable even without Kendrick’s presence. The record unfolds as a dense, focused sonic landscape built in a style Dahi has dubbed “Black Radiohead,” and it’s packed with high-profile guests: Chidish Gambino, Vince Staples, Moses Sumney, Ravyn Lenae, Fousheé, Channel Tres, Obongjayar, and many others. Dahi has recently joined many of them onstage for performances.

The artist formerly known as DJ Dahi has a long-standing partnership with Kendrick Lamar, contributing to classics like “Money Trees” and “Loyalty.” On Dahi’s new track “How To Pray,” Kendrick shares vocals with the acclaimed R&B singer Amber Mark, delivering a melodic duet over a tricky, intricate production that even features Brazilian-style acoustic guitar. Mez, another guest who appears on the album, directed the song’s video. Check it out below.

And with Black Boy (Alternative) finally released today, listeners can stream the full album below.

Black Boy (Alternative) is out now on Alter Music.

I write about music as a cultural signal, following the artists, scenes, releases, and movements that shape how people listen today. My work focuses on discovery, context, and the stories behind the sounds that travel beyond borders.
