Danielle Johnson started the year by releasing MYTHS, a spacious ambient record crafted from vintage synthesizers and captured live at the Vintage Synthesizer Museum. She came back the following month with two fresh tracks that teased a new chapter under Danz CM. Now, the 2010 Stereogum Artist To Watch is unveiling her forthcoming LP, The Interdimensional Extraterrestrial Time Travelers Society.
“An album designed for those existing in another dimension,” Johnson wrote on Instagram, noting that the project has taken four years to come together. It was conceived, produced, and recorded entirely within her home studio. “Animal” unfolds as a hypnotic journey through the cosmos, while “The Captain” maintains a relaxed, humorous tone: “Please don’t call the coast guard/ ‘Cause I’d rather be a castaway/ There’s a captain overboard/ I guess we’ll save his life today.” Dive in below.
