At the start of the year, Dan Snaith—better known as Caribou and, on the electronic scene, Daphni—launched Butterfly, his latest album released under the Daphni moniker. Yet his creative drive shows no sign of slowing. Following the album, he conceived a track titled hav u a sec, which he first debuted during his February live set at Corsica Studios in London. That track, along with two previously unreleased pieces, Tally and Foward, now appear as a surprise EP called hav u a sec.
In an instagram post he shared:
hav u a sec’ by Daphni is out today together with two other tracks (‘Tally’ and ‘Forward’ on a little ep) i know Butterfly only came out a few months ago but i made this one after the album was already finished and wanted to get it out because it’s been such a great vibe playing it for you at shows. I think I played it at Corsica first maybe? this is my friend’s dog but he looks just like my dog Saxon from when I was a kid – a brown and white border collie.
All three tracks on hav u a sec are vibrant and iridescent. Though I would argue that “Tally” and “Forward” are a bit more engaging than the title track. Check them all out below.
