Dazy – An Irrational Person

October 19, 2026

Whenever I post Dazy’s music on this site, I can’t help but point out James Goodson—the Richmond musician behind the Dazy project—is someone I know and genuinely like. He works as a publicist for other bands, so our dealings with him are usually in that professional capacity, and I also enjoy catching him at shows from time to time. But I swear this isn’t me leveraging my music-blogger clout to hype up my friend’s music. If anything, it’s a little awkward to be socially acquainted and think, “Damn, I really like all of this guy’s songs.”

I genuinely admire every track of his, though. In the Dazy guise, Goodson crafts bright and catchy fuzz-pop anthems with uncanny consistency. On his newer material, he’s been experimenting with breakbeats and samples that bring fresh dimensions to his endlessly catchy riffs and melodies.

Toward the end of the week, Dazy will unveil MAXIMUMBLASTSUPERLOUD Vol. 2: 24 Songs From 2023-2026, a fresh compilation featuring seven new tracks. We already highlighted the early singles “Beat Change” and “Ugly,” and those tunes hit hard. In my view, “Beat Change” could be the strongest pure Dazy track to date, though “Pressure Cooker,” the 2022 Militarie Gun collaboration, remains among the finest rock songs of the last few years and thus stands outside this comparison. Today he introduces “Unreasonable Person,” another monumental structure built entirely from classic alternative-rock hooks. Give it a listen below.
