In the upcoming month, James Goodson, a Virginia-based songwriter and producer who releases music under the alias Dazy, will unveil a compilation titled MAXIMUMBLASTSUPERLOUD Vol. 2: 24 Songs From 2023-2026. The collection brings together singles and EP tracks from the last three years and also includes seven tracks that are newly recorded for this release. The Artist To Watch alum has already shared a fresh track, “Beat Change,” described as a bold, brass-heavy cut with a ringing melody. Today, he drops another new single, “Ugly.”
“Ugly” unfurls with a scratchy, playful character. It evokes a distinctly late ’90s vibe, complete with radio-style feedback bleeps and gauzy guitars milled together as if in an old Oster blender. The looping melodies add a cosmic shimmer, while the rough edges and tinny acoustic strums keep the song grounded with a sense of tenderness. Listen below.
