Dolly Parton’s niece has confirmed that the Jolene singer has been laid to rest.
In an emotional post on Instagram on Saturday, Lainey Mae Parton revealed that her aunt’s private funeral had been held on Friday, August 28.
“This is an incredibly difficult post for me to publish,” Lainey wrote, accompanying a slideshow of photographs showing the country music legend with various family members.
“I wanted to wait until after my granny’s service yesterday before attempting to put any of this into words.”
Lainey then praised Dolly, whom nieces and nephews lovingly referred to as Aunt Granny.
“She always had a way of making me feel like I was enough. She never made my dreams feel too big or made me feel like I couldn’t do something. She believed in me before I even knew how to believe in myself,” Lainey wrote.
“Most people can think of at least one bad memory with someone in their family,” she added. “I honestly can’t think of a single one when it comes to her.”
“I’m going to miss her voice, her laugh, her hugs, and simply knowing she was there.”
Page Six reported on Friday that Dolly’s loved ones had gathered at her Nashville burial site, Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum. The country music legend died on 25 August at the age of 80.
