Drake Marks 40th Birthday with the Backstreet Boys

October 25, 2026

Drake celebrated with more than 400 friends at his 40th birthday party.

The gathering took place at the Casa Cipriani hotel in New York City on Friday, according to TMZ, and featured a surprise performance by the Backstreet Boys.

Drake joined the quartet onstage for a rendition of their 1999 hit I Want It That Way.

“There’s a lot of extremely important people who I resonate with in here because they work extremely hard,” the five-time Grammy winner told the audience. “And even though it’s a Friday, I know we carve out time for ourselves.”

“Tonight isn’t about a tour, an album release, or a bunch of videos we shot,” he told the room. “It’s about being alive, staying alive.”

The New York City celebration marked the culmination of several days of birthday festivities that began in Drake’s hometown of Toronto. Earlier in the week, he gathered with friends at the CN Tower, where he was surprised with a collage of photos and memories.

The singer then headed to New York with his mother and members of his entourage aboard Air Drake, his customized Boeing 767, and was spotted dining at SoHo restaurant Mamo on Thursday night.

Drake’s latest album, Iceman, went platinum on Friday just five months after its May release.
