Flower Face Debuts New Album Kill The Muse; Stereogum to Present Brooklyn Show Next Week

November 1, 2026

In 2024, Flower Face released her expansive fourth record, Girl Prometheus, which earned her a spot on our Artist To Watch list. She now reveals the successor, Kill The Muse, slated to arrive the following year. Stereogum is set to host her sold-out performance at Public Records in Brooklyn, just one week from today, on Thursday, Nov. 5.

The latest single, “Better The Devil,” is available now, following August’s “Bad Dream.” “I recall the exact moment I wrote this track,” says the Montreal-based artist about “Better The Devil.” She elaborates:

I was walking home from the metro after spending the day at my producer Marcus’s studio, tying up the last details of my prior album. I lived alone and had spent much of the past year isolating myself (aside from parties or tense, unhealthy relationships). My friends had begun a sobriety streak on January 1st, which I wasn’t ready to try. It was deep winter, the season of darkness when the sun sinks early, and I spent many nights counting the minutes to sleep. That night a friend was supposed to stay over but canceled, likely because she was caught in her own cyclical, damaging relationship. Everything looked utterly bleak. I reached home with a runny nose and numb fingers, sat in the studio’s darkness, and started writing this song… Even now, it’s hard for me to listen to it. I feel sorrow for that small, frightened, trapped person I used to be. I couldn’t imagine a way out. We preserved a few parts of that first demo, since they felt so raw, painful, and unflinching. It felt like the moment I finally confronted myself and the downward spiral I had fallen into. In truth, it felt like the first time I was completely honest in a song.
