Winter 2006 sees Harvey in the studio working on the follow up to ‘Uh Huh Her’ with ‘To Bring You My Love’ producers Flood and John Parish. The new material has been written mainly on piano rather than guitar, marking a change in direction for Harvey.

hab mir noch die PJ-peel-sessions reingezogen - eine feine selektion aus aufnahmen für die legendäre bbc1-radiosendung des verstorbenen john peel. pj ging über die jahre immer mal wieder bei john vorbei und nahm songs aus ihrem repertoire in schlichtem, ungehobelt rohem live-charakter auf. OH MY LOVER (1991) zum beispiel mit wunderbar knarriger bassline, YOU COME THROUGH mit live-publikum (2004) von der tribute-session; besondere perle für mich: THIS WICKED TONGUE (2000), mir bisher unbekannt und eine b-side aus STORIES-FROM...-zeiten.

da entdecke ich pj harvey als piano-verliebter pianist ja gerade rechtzeitig!!
...ja ich weiss ich bin spät dran, aber mich pj bis vor kurzem einfach nie in ihren bann gezogen.. bzw. ich hörte nie wirklich rein.
tolle musik - gefällt mir sehr, sehr gut und freue mich aufs neue album. wär mir ganz recht mit mehr piano :)

auf STORIES hat es wahre songperlen drauf - es ist gleichzeitig wahrscheinlich das "rundeste" album => eingängig, geschliffen (ist nicht negativ gemeint & es gefällt mir auch sehr).
jedenfalls dürfte dir IS THIS DESIRE auch gefallen, gerade wenn du pianos magst. das album ist nicht unbedingt roher im sinn von "rockiger", aber doch verquerer, verstörender. und zum teil mit sachten elektronischen elementen.
ach, PJ ist immer hervorragend...

We are happy to confirm that Polly will play the Royal Festival Hall in London on Saturday, 29th September. The show will coincide with the release of the new album 'White Chalk' and will be her first London show since September 2004 when she played the Hammersmith Apollo.
On Saturday night in Manchester, Polly returned to the stage with an intimate performance at a sold-out Bridgewater Hall. Described by the NME as 'a spectacular live return', the solo career-spanning show included material from the new album; namely The Devil, White Chalk, Silence & The Mountain.

deine verwunderung ist übrigens durchaus ganz berechtigt, da der offizielle release ja erst für den 24. angekündigt war und der heutige PJ-newsletter auch sagt, dass erst heute das erscheinungsdatum ist - schön, wenn die realität schneller ist... ;)
