Fourteen fans at a recent Chainsmokers show were admitted to local hospitals.
During and following an outdoor performance in San Jose, California, on Friday, those affected were transported to area medical facilities, according to police and the San Jose Fire Department (SJFD).
Emergency workers were dispatched to the concert at Discovery Meadow in San Jose at 8:22 pm local time after “reports of several patients needing medical attention” and quickly requested additional support, the SJFD said on X.
Authorities promptly requested an Ambulance Task Force, two more advanced life-support fire units, and a Battalion Chief to oversee the incident and provide extra medical resources, per the post.
Fourteen ambulances were sent to the scene.
Exact details of the patients’ conditions were not immediately clear, but ABC 7 Eyewitness News cited reports that a number of attendees were dealing with alcohol- or drug-related issues at the venue.
The Chainsmokers, comprising Alex Pall and Drew Taggart, are known for hits such as Closer, featuring Halsey, and Something Just Like This with Coldplay.
The show was described as troubled, beginning at 5 pm, with the duo taking the stage at some point on Saturday morning, according to various posts on social media.
